Intermodal

Convenient and easily accessible throughout North Alabama, the International Intermodal Center (IIC) plays a fundamental role in the supply chain management of the Central South.

Located at the Port of Huntsville, the IIC features air cargo services for all domestic and international cargo and boasts seamless rail connectivity to numerous East Coast and West Coast ports. U.S Customs and Border Protection port inspectors, freight forwarders, and customs brokers remain on-site to make transactional shipments as seamless as possible.

Air Cargo

Huntsville International Airport has two parallel runways, which are respectively 12,600 and 10,000 feet long. They are separated by 5,000 feet and, together, share 1,000,000 square feet of cargo ramp space. Cold storage is available, along with nearly 300,000 square feet of shipment space that is utilized for receiving, storing, transferring, and distributing domestic and international cargo.

Rail Cargo

Served by a direct spur of the Norfolk Southern mainline and easily accessible from Interstate 565, the IIC features rail and motor-carrier terminals equipped with two 45-ton overhead gantry cranes and a dedicated stack train service.

For convenient shipment connections, CSX and Norfolk Southern both operate additional intermodal operations in the Birmingham, Alabama area.
