Established in 1949 as the North Alabama Associates, the North Alabama Industrial Development Association (NAIDA) is among the oldest regional economic development organizations in the United States.

NAIDA is a regional economic development organization founded by the distributors of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) power, serving 13 counties across North Alabama.

At the time of NAIDA’s founding, North Alabama was largely defined by its agricultural economy and offered limited industrial employment opportunities. Today, the region has evolved into a diverse manufacturing hub, with more than 1,200 manufacturing facilities representing a broad range of industries. North Alabama currently targets investment from companies in advanced manufacturing, aerospace and defense, automotive, biotechnology, chemicals, metalworking, plastics, and woodworking.

With more than five decades of coordinated regional collaboration, NAIDA provides the experience, resources, and regional alignment necessary to support complex site selection projects of any scale. Projects that NAIDA has assisted include:
