With roots dating to the 1949 establishment of North Alabama Associates, the North Alabama Industrial Development Association (NAIDA) is among the nation’s longest-standing regional economic development organizations.

NAIDA is a regional economic development organization established by North Alabama’s TVA-served public power distributors to advance economic growth and opportunity across a 13-county region.

When that effort began more than 75 years ago, North Alabama’s economy was largely agricultural, with relatively limited industrial employment opportunities. Today, the region is home to more than 1,000 manufacturing facilities and a remarkably divers industrial base.

That transformation has been built over generations through the sustained commitment and cooperation of communities, public power partners, TVA, and local, state, and regional economic development organizations. Throughout that time, NAIDA has helped provide continuity to the regional effort-connecting communities, and resources, facilitating cooperation across jurisdictional lines, persistently promoting North Alabama, and supporting projects from initial opportunity through site selection and development.

That same long-term commitment to regional cooperation continues today-bringing definition to the region, promoting North Alabama, connecting communities and resources, and pursuing industrial opportunities that will strengthen North Alabama and help shape its future for generations to come.
